KC: Welcome. This is KC and Monica Craichy, founders of Living Fuel, here to talk to you about CocoChia Snack Mix.
Monica: We’re going to talk about what is it, why do I need it and how do I use it. Let’s take the first one: What is CocoChia Snack Mix?
KC: You’re looking at individual packets of coconut – raw, ground, organic coconut – combined with whole, raw chia seeds and our proprietary sweetener, TheraSweet, which includes prebiotics and probiotics, low- glycemic.
Monica: Why did you pick that combination?
KC: The chia seed was known to be a staple food by the Aztec Indians. They would use it as the only nutrition with water during a hunt, and it is a really amazing high omega-3 seed. In fact, it’s the highest concentration of omega-3 of any seed or any plant, including flax.
Monica: And that’s for sustained energy?
KC : Well, there are a lot of reasons for omega-3. Plant-based omega-3 ALA and then the sustained energy is definitely an aspect of chia seed because it turns into a mucilage in the stomach. It grows to seven times its size after you wet it, and it really sustains itself through the digestive tract nice and slowly.
Monica; But you won’t plump up while you eat it.
KC; No. You won’t grow like the chia seed commercial, but it is the same seed as the Chia Pet commercial you used to see when you were a kid. That’s in the mint family. If you want to just search on the Internet ‘chia‘, there’s a lot of very good information now. It’s becoming very popular. We were among the first to use it in nutrition products more than ten years ago. It’s now becoming very, very popular. Now, coconut is another thing. It’s well known throughout the world as a health food. It was much maligned in the ’80s and maybe even the ’70s, but we know that medium-chain triglycerides are extremely powerful, extremely important for human health. These are fuel fats, and really important fats for the human body. They’re sustained energy foods, and then we put our sweetener in there. The combination is absolutely delicious. Now, you can eat it directly. How else do you use it, Monica?
Monica: Well, what I wanted to say, too, about the sweetener is it’s non- glycemic, so this is perfect for diabetics.
KC: Right.
Monica: This is the 12-pack, so inside this box you get 12 single servings. These are great for lunch boxes, for your gym bag, for your purse. Anytime, if I’m out shopping and I feel myself getting a little tired, I’ll just eat one of these. Our children love these. They’re great. They eat them in the car when we do road trips and such. You can also sprinkle them on top of yogurt, on top of cereals, ice creams and any fruit blends and salads. You just get creative and put it on anything, and you’re adding a little extra nutrition to whatever it is you’re eating.
