KC: Welcome to Living Fuel TV. I’m KC Craichy bringing you an important health alert. Is your multivitamin killing you? Is it just worthless? Bloomberg reported over the last couple weeks, as did every major media outlet, that multivitamins and some dietary supplements used regularly by an estimated 234 million U. S. adults, may do more harm than good. According to a study that tied their use to higher death rates among older women, the study’s authors outrageously concluded, “We see little justification for the general and widespread use of dietary supplements.” This study was published in the American Medical Association’s “Archives of Internal Medicine”, a very prestigious publication. But, this is junk science, this is absolutely junk science. 29,000 women, average age of 62 were asked to take a survey about their multivitamin and supplement use. Eleven years later in 1997, they were asked again to take a survey about their multivitamin and supplement use over the previous 11 years. Subsequently, in 2004, they did another survey accessing the memories of 80 year old Americans to find out what they had been eating or taking regarding supplements and multivitamins over the previous 19 years. So, this is a 19 year study done with surveys of people’s general use of supplements, and they concluded things out of these surveys that were absolutely ridiculous. In fact, their findings were statistically insignificant anyway, yet they were published by this leading journal.

[music] Welcome to Living Fuel TV, I’m KC Craichy. Few things strike fear in the heart of man more than the diagnosis of cancer, or the potential diagnosis of cancer. Today, we have special guest, Ty Bollinger. Ty, God bless you, welcome.

Ty: Thank you for having me, KC. I appreciate it, brother.

KC: Pleasure. Ty is the author of a book called, “Cancer: Step Outside the Box”. This is an important book, Ty, because it has a story. This is not just a scientific researcher going and doing research. You had a crisis in your life. Tell us the story behind this book.

Ty: Sure, sure. And it is, it’s the book of a story of my parents. My parents were both diagnosed with cancer. The first cancer diagnosis was my father in 1996 on July the 1st. He died 25 days later, and that’s what began my cancer research journey. Several years later, my mother died of cancer. The purpose of the book, for me, was to honor my parents, they both died of cancer. I began to research alternative, natural, holistic type treatments for cancer, and I realized there are a lot of treatments out there that people don’t know about. And so, I literally did thousands of hours of research, and I wanted people to have the benefit of that research. So, I compiled it into this book. I guess the two main purposes of the book are this. Number one, to honor my father and mother. I’m a Christian, and God says, honor your parents, and I thought there was no better way to honor mom and dad than to put their stories in my book. And the second reason was to put this information in the hands of people who may have had a cancer diagnosis, so that they can have the knowledge to make an informed decision about which way they will go with the treatment.

[music] KC: Welcome to Living Fuel TV. I’m KC Craichy with special guest, Christian Isakson, a.k.a. Mr. Ironman, back with us. This has been a really fun series. When is the last time that you have done an event that has taken everything you have inside of you to accomplish. Well, as we have talked about in previous segments, if you are just joining us today, Christian has just accomplished one of the most fantastic endurance feats on the planet. He accomplished what’s called the Epic Five. You can look it up, EpicFive.com. It is five races in five days on five of the largest islands of Hawaii, which are iron distance races. Which means two point…

Christian: Four.

KC: … four mile swim, a hundred and …

Christian: … and 12 mile bike.

KC: … 12 mile bike.

Christian: And then a full marathon.

KC: And a full marathon. Every day for five days, how about that for a work week? [laughs] So, it’s awesome to have you back, brother.

Christian: Thank you, it’s awesome to be here.

KC: So, accomplishing that. I just continue to marvel at the level of athlete that you are to accomplish this thing. We’ve heard of the tortoise and the hare, and we talked in the last segment about how a lot of weekend warrior triathletes come to us and say, “How do we fuel ourselves for this?” They have been following this pattern of some book they read about a world class athlete that’s doing it, like you do it, like nine and a half hours on a race you’re racing.

Christian: I’d like to get that; that’s what I’m shooting for. I’m just above ten right now, but I’m working my way down.

KC: But you started at 30. What was the progression of your racing, and how did you build up to it?

Christian: I’ve been a runner for a while. Being in the military, you run constantly. I ran a little bit in high school, I’ve just always been… I’m not built like a runner, I’m more of a stocky guy. But, I feel like that benefits me more for the longer races because I have a little bit more muscle, and I also have some good fast switch which enables me to hit some speed. But, around 28, 29, 30 is when I really dropped the hammer. I saw the Ironman when I was eight years old on TV, when Julie Moss crawled across the line throwing up, and I remember pointing at the television and pointing at my mom and saying, “I’m going to do that some day”.

[music] KC: Welcome to Living Fuel TV. I’m KC Craichy, this is my wife Monica. Think about years past. The holidays are coming. Getting through the holidays with your health is quite the challenge.

Monica: That’s why everybody has those New Year’s resolutions because they usually gain 10-20 pounds over the holiday season

KC: I’ve been there.

Monica: But, we have a plan this year that we want to help you not only look and feel better, but also perform better. Tell them about the plan.

KC: You can be healthier on January 2nd than you are at this very moment. Even though the huge amount of buffets are ahead of you, and people bringing cookies to the office, and all of the many things that we know we go through. So, think about years past. How did you handle these situations? Did you even think about them in advance? Or, did you just expect to come into these holidays and just splurge, splurge, splurge and deal with it later?

Monica: Yeah, that’s probably what most people do. But, we have a holiday challenge for you, and you can sign up through Facebook, Twitter, email, even calling us. The main thing is we need your address, because we are going to send you a gift. Well, actually, tell them about the gift. I’m excited about this!

KC: Monica and I have decided that this is such a huge issue, such a huge health issue, and our mission is to change lives. So, we are investing up to $50,000 in sending you books, with the information to help you accomplish this challenge. This is my latest book, “The Super Health Diet: The Last Diet You’ll Ever Need”. Plus, the journal, “The Living Journal: Living the Seven Golden Keys” that will actually help you implement these things. We know writing things down is very important in accomplishing your goals, and that’s what this one is about.

Monica: So, these two books together are a retail value, with our shipping and everything, will be about $50. We want to invest that in you, because we believe if you follow the plan that KC’s outlined in these books, you will be healthier by January 1st than you are now.

[music] KC: Welcome to Living Fuel TV. I’m KC Craichy with my wife Monica. So, when you looked in the mirror this morning, how are you doing? Because two- thirds of America are overweight, over half of them are very overweight and some even morbidly obese. Many over 100 pounds overweight. Does that mean that only two-thirds of America has a problem? No, because we have people who are underweight, people who are essentially fat, skinny people because they don’t have the muscle mass that they need to have. This really is the greatest issue of health facing America and the world today. So, I’ve just released a book, it’s out now, called “The Super Health Diet: The Last Diet You”ll Ever Need.” So, this took over two years of compiling research and trying to disseminate what’s important and to help people understand the details and what makes this such a big issue.

Monica: You know, I love … this is a great body of work. This has really been an amazing book for me to read. But in chapter 9 you talk about, we all know that we have to lose weight. We need to be more fit for our long- term health. But, in chapter 9 you talk about 14 new reasons for losing weight. The first reason that you bring up is belly fat as well as fatty liver are big culprits.

KC: It is a big deal. The belly fat, what most people don’t realize, is that the fat that is carried right here becomes one of the largest endocrine organs in the body. Essentially, it’s a phantom organ that is creating inflammatory cytokines, Interleukin-6, TNF-alpha, and aromatase. Aromatase is an enzyme that literally converts testosterone to estrogen. So, what makes a man, man into a primarily female hormone, but men have it, also, but not in excess. So, it’s causing all kinds of health problems.

Monica: Well, what are some of the health problems that causes, just belly fat?

KC: Well, when you think about it, belly fat actually creates an environment for more belly fat. So, when you have these hormonal excretions that cause people not to want to work out. They don’t have energy, they don’t feel well, it leads to heart disease, it leads to basically every disease you can think of. If you go out and do a search on low testosterone levels in men and see what a big issue that is. And women it’s an issue also, because hormones are all about balance. And so, when you are overweight and you literally have your fat literally working against you. It’s like an enemy coming in there and trying to attack your health and tear you down. So, if you don’t have the energy to work out, then no matter how dedicated you want to be or how motivated you are to work out, you literally are not going to go work out. So, the way people eat has a dramatic effect on their health in general. It’s a vicious spiral. Over the next few weeks, we are going to deal with this subject. We are going to help learn more about it, more about what causes it and more about what to do about it. Over the next few weeks. If you want to get the book, it is available wherever books are sold. It’s available at living fuel dot com. You can read ahead, but we’re here to help you, and together we are going to conquer this thing. God bless you and have a great day.
