Inside LivingFuel: Organic Marshmallow Root

The first thing that comes to mind when you read Marshmallow Root is likely not a flowering plant that’s home to one of nature’s most powerful and efficacious herbs. However, Marshmallow Root has been used for thousands of years in many cultures as a powerful herbal remedy for a wide range of dis-eases ranging from colds, cough, and sore throat, to diarrhea, indigestion, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to even eczema and pinkeye.
The marshmallow plant is native to Europe, western Asia and northeast America and is a fleshy, flowering plant that can reach up to 4 feet high. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), the entire plant contains a slippery, slick substance called mulicage, long-believed to be the active ingredient in the herb. Mulicage is actually comprised of large sugar molecules, a long chain of polysaccharides, most of which is concentrated in the plant’s root. Marshmallow root is rich in nutrients and is easy to digest, making it an excellent food during times of digestive discomfort.
Organic Marshmallow Root is one of multiple herbs and numerous high-impact ingredients in Living Fuel’s revolutionary whole-meal functional superfoods LivingFuel SuperGreens, LivingFuel SuperBerry Ultimate and SuperBerry Original. Each of these foods contain 300 mg per serving of organic marshmallow root.
Enjoy organic marshmallow root, along with over 60 other superfoods, vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants, enzymes, prebiotics, and probiotics in a great-tasting whole meal functional superfood blend.

Adding more fruit and vegetables of any kind to your diet will improve your health, especially if they are organic, because they limit your exposure to pesticides and herbicides. But some foods are higher in antioxidants than others. To reap the biggest benefit of antioxidants, eat these foods raw or lightly steamed; don’t overcook or boil. Three of the most well-known major antioxidant vitamins are beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E; however, there are many others. It is important to know that a single exotic super fruit, such as acai or pomegranate, or a blend of several like you might find in some of the “wine bottle” antioxidant drinks on the market today, do not cover the full-spectrum of required antioxidants. Remember, there are five major classes of free radicals. You cannot simply take one type of antioxidant and be fully protected. It’s like having five holes in a boat with only one or two plugs to keep it from sinking.
