Dear Living Fuel Family,

Imagine for a moment that today is April 26, 1986. You and your family live in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, one mile from the sprawling Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Technicians there perform an operational test that goes severely wrong, shrill alarms pierce the air and a series of thunderous nuclear explosions occur, followed by the subsequent toxic nuclear fallout. The immediate and debilitating effect on your family’s health is incalculable. Even today, 24 years later, in the nation known as Ukraine, the residents of Chernobyl and the surrounding area still face the devastating health effects of this disaster. What you may not know, however, is that the lifetime cumulative effect of various forms of medical radiation could have a similar effect on your family’s health where you live today.

Today, we continue our special series of interviews with Dr. Patrick Purdue, Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DO) and Doctor of Naturopathy (ND). We discuss the little-publicized dangers of medical radiation and share important information that we should all consider as we make important medical decisions for our families. Dr. Purdue and I also present safer alternatives to conventional medical radiation that you need to be aware of. We also tell you what you can do to protect yourself if you have an ionizing radiation test. Take your and your family’s health care into your own hands – educate yourself to make informed and wise medical decisions.

LivingFuel HealthAlert: Do CT Scans Cause Cancer?

The last several months have presented one worrisome story after another regarding the dangers of CT scans… including more than 200 patients receiving radiation overdoses while undergoing brain scans at a California hospital… unpredictable and widespread variation in radiation dosing for cardiac scans from one hospital to the next… and a new research report revealing that the cancer risk from radiation in a CT scan may be far higher than was thought. Two studies on this topic were published in the December 2009 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine. One of the studies reports that just one scan can deliver enough radiation to cause cancer and predicts that 29,000 new cancers will develop that can be linked to CT scans received in just the year 2007. Making matters much worse is the fact that the use of CT scans in medicine has grown explosively — more than tripling in the US since the 1990s, with more than 70 million given each year.

LONDON – People with early lung cancer who quit smoking could double their chances of surviving, a new study says.

Until now, there has been little proof that quitting smoking after developing lung cancer makes any difference to survival.

British researchers analyzed previous data from 10 studies examining how long smokers survived after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

People with lung cancer who continued smoking had a 29 to 33 per cent chance of surviving five years. But those who kicked the habit had a 63 to 70 per cent chance of being alive after five years. The research was published in the BMJ, formerly known as the British Medical Journal.

CT Scan Radiation Linked To Cancers, Deaths

CT scans deliver far more radiation than has been believed and may contribute to 29,000 new cancers each year, along with 14,500 deaths, suggest two studies in the Archives of Internal Medicine. One study, led by the National Cancer Institute’s Amy Berrington de Gonzalez, used existing exposure data to estimate how many cancers might be caused by CT scans.

Another study in the journal suggests the problem may even be worse. In that study, researchers found that people may be exposed to up to four times as much radiation as estimated by earlier studies. While previous studies relied on dummies equipped with sensors, authors of the new paper studied 1,119 patients at four San Francisco-area hospitals, says author Rebecca-Smith Bindman of the University of California-San Francisco. Based on those higher measurements, a patient could get as much radiation from one CT scan as 74 mammograms or 442 chest X-rays, she says.

(NaturalNews) There is a surprising link between Heart Attacks, Cancer, Alzheimer’s and other diseases. These other diseases include all forms of Autoimmune disorders including Arthritis and MS, Parkinson’s, Osteoporosis, Diabetes, Obesity, Allergies including Asthma and Food Intolerances, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and many other pain disorders. And there is much evidence to suggest that the link is inflammation. The modern diet and lifestyle is likely to cause inflammation in the body, and this can lead to a variety of illnesses.

Is Your Cell Phone Dangerous?

Did you Know?
  • More than 200 million Americans use a cell phone every day
  • An estimated 4 billion people use cell phones worldwide
  • Many doctors and health researchers believe radiation from cell phones can cause cancer
  • Some believe the cancer risk from cell phone usage could be as dangerous as smoking
  • The U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee heard testimony just last week as part of its probe into potential links between cell phone use and cancer
This is an important subject to all of us.  Cell phones and computers are a reality (and have become a necessity) in today’s world.  I use my cell phones and computers daily, and most likely you do, too.
Electronic devices such as these emit electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) - radiation that, at high levels, can be environmental hazards.  As with all hazards, we need to learn how to minimize our exposure to them and protect ourselves from them.  Science tells us that every living and non-living thing has a natural electromagnetic frequency level.  You’ve seen the video of a wine glass shattered by a high pitch sound – a high frequency.  In the same way, there are external frequency levels that have the potential to harm you, such as the EMFs we are discussing today.

Today, we’ll focus on the cell phone models you and your family are using and how much radiation they are producing.  Next week, we’ll give you keys to minimizing exposure and protecting yourself.

Our friends at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) just published an insightful report on cell phone radiation.  They studied and tested over 1,000 cell phones currently on the market.  They also report the best (and worst) cell phones tested and publish a practical guide to reduce cell phone radiation exposure.
