The media and health circles has been abuzz with a published study that reportedly links intake of fish oil and a higher risk of prostate cancer. Before we ignore years of clinical research and a mountain of studies supporting the remarkable health benefits (including anti-cancer properties) of Omega-3 and fish oil, let’s look more closely. As a leading health researcher and author of three books on diet, nutrition, and performance, I’ve learned that healthy skepticism is important when analyzing medical studies and evaluating the subsequent reporting in the news.
Join me today on LivingFuelTV as we take a close look and shine the light of truth.

Say you work in an office with 30 others, and a co-worker comes down with a nasty cold virus. A few days later, 4 others have identical symptoms. However, you and the 25 others are unaffected. All were exposed to the virus, but only a few succumed to it. Why? How does this relate to a much more insidious disease like cancer?
The cure for cancer is to not get it in the first place, similar to the group of employees in our example that avoided the cold virus. While this concept may sound trite and overly simplistic, there is much truth in it. Carcinogen is defined as any substance that can cause or aggravate cancer, and there are many carcinogens we know to avoid, such as tobacco smoke, asbestos, and nuclear fallout. These are obvious to avoid. Are there others?
We answer those questions today and more in a special LivingFuelTV HealthAlert, part of the insightful series Cancer Step Outside the Box with Ty Bollinger. Today’s episode is a must-see for those battling cancer, those supporting a loved one in their fight against cancer, or anyone who wants to avoid a cancer diagnosis. Learn what you can do to help your body evade and fight cancer cells. We’ll also discuss the importance of nutrition, environment, and movement in living a cancer-free life.

Imagine that a new pharmaceutical drug is released to the public amidst a flood of news reports and television advertising. This pill has been has been clinically and conclusively proven to dramatically reduce the risk of breast cancer by as much as 80%. Do you think this would be a popular prescription?
It may come as a surprise to know that healthy lifestyle habits and diet have been clinically shown in a significant number of studies to substantially reduce the risk of breast and other cancers that plague our modern society. A vast majority of the fund-raising activities for the pink ribbon organizations are rooted in good people with noble intentions, however, with over a billion dollars spent on the “cure”, little progress has been made in this fight.
In today’s LivingFuelTV’s HealthAlert, we turn our attention from awareness to prevention. Join us as we explore key factors that increase women’s risk and those factors that decrease the risk of breast cancer. This is vital information you are not likely to hear from conventional medicine.

Fifty-eight-year-old Jim from Seattle is crushed as he hears the devastating news from his doctor: prostate cancer. Unfortunately, Jim is now counted among the one in six American men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer sometime in their lifetime and one of 241,740 estimated new diagnoses of prostate cancer this year according to the American Cancer Society.
The truth is that the ultimate cure for any cancer is not getting cancer in the first place. While this may sound overly simplistic as the causes of cancer are varied and complex, we can begin today to create an environment in our body where cancer cannot thrive. How do we do this? Join us as we discuss:

the major risk factors associated with prostate cancer,

A diet rich in fiber can help fight obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The Seven Countries Study found that people living in countries with high fiber intake weighed less than those living in countries where fiber intake is low. In the famous Nurses’ Health Study, those who ingested more dietary fiber consistently weighed less than those who consumed less fiber. Another study linked higher dietary fiber intake with lower body weight and waist-to-hip ratios, along with a reduction in markers of heart disease risk. Higher fiber consumption predicted less weight gain more strongly than did total or saturated fat consumption.
