Are organic foods healthier for you and your family?  Common sense would answer a resoundingyes! as organically-grown foods are certified free of pesticides, herbicides and other toxins.  However, reading the conclusions of a study published by Stanford University may have you doubting your choice of an organic apple over the shiny, wax-coated conventional apple.  The study concluded that there is lack of strong evidence to prove that organic foods are healthier than conventional foods.  Hmmm…

Today on LivingFuelTV, we’ll dig deeply into this study and its findings by exploring how the study was actually conducted and who funded it.  Learn what this controversial and much-talked-about study really says about organic versus conventional foods.  Also, you can apply these sound principles as you look intelligently at any health study or health-related news story.  Click on the graphic below to watch.

Peanut Butter!

Cookie Dough!

These two delicious tastes are thought of as rare treats or decadent indulgences.  No longer!  LivingProtein, Living Fuel’s revolutionary Functional Superfood Protein is not only powerfully nutritious and delicious, but is also incredibly versatile.  Often used to increase protein and fiber in LivingFuel SuperSmoothies, LivingProtein is terrific in a variety of your favorite recipes.

Here’s an amazingly simple, three-ingredient, gluten-free, milk-free, protein-rich, satisfying treat for the whole family—you’ll definitely want to lick the spoon!  This recipe is approximately 300 calories and provides 30 grams of protein, 8 grams of fiber, powerful amino acids, and millions of live digestive enzymes and probiotics.

LivingProtein Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

2 scoops LivingProtein
2 heaping tablespoons organic peanut butter (may substitute organic almond butter)
Pour LivingProtein into a mixing bowl, add peanut butter.  Add cold purified water slowly as you mix ingredients with a fork or hand mixer on low setting.  Mix until the batter is the consistency of Mom’s cookie dough.  Chill for 30 minutes and enjoy!

Here at Living Fuel, we love this recipe right out the bowl.  Try adding organic dark chocolate chips, CocoChia Snack Mix or add the batter into organic Greek yogurt or your morning oatmeal.  For the “culinarily gifted”, add an organic egg, baking powder, and your skill to create a delicious baked peanut butter cookie recipe.  When you’ve mastered the recipe, share it with us at our Facebook page!

LivingFuel HealthAlert: “Let Your Food Be Your Medicine”

Dear Living Fuel Family,

You’ve held your learners permit for the past year, logged hundreds of miles behind the wheel and feel confident at a four-way stop and in thorny rush hour traffic. You’re a bit tired of borrowing the family sedan, so all that’s missing is a car of your own. And now, on your 16th birthday, your parents present you with a beautiful brand new car – a dream come true!

There’s just one catch. This car will be the only one you’ll own for your lifetime. Imagine the care and attention you’d give your new prized possession—only the best oil, the highest quality gasoline and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance from your mechanic. This allegory applies to your body—the single most complex and high-performing machine you’ll ever own.

Today, we conclude our well-received series of interviews with Dr. Patrick Purdue, Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DO) and Doctor of Naturopathy (ND). Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine said “Let your food be your medicine.” Our topic today is nutrition, specifically the food we choose as fuel for our bodies. What we eat and what we give our family to eat significantly impacts our health today and in the years to come.
