Arthritis is no reason to stop exercising because without physical activity joints become less mobile and muscles shrink, a U.S. newsletter says. Mayo Clinic Women’s HealthSource says achy joints should not put the kibosh on exercise and they warn in a statement “it hurts more when you stop.”

German researchers report that the addition of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids to the over-the-counter arthritis treatment glucosamine sulfate resulted in improved alleviation of symptoms compared to glucosamine alone. The trial may be the first to test the combination in patients with osteoarthritis.
