Proteins are the foundation of the human body and, next to water, the most plentiful substance in the body.
- KC Craichy, The Super Health Diet: The Last Diet You Will Ever Need!

Dear Living Fuel Family,

We’ve all heard of protein.  We know it’s important, but few understand exactly why.  You may have asked:

What are the best sources of protein?
How much protein do I need each day?
Does the type of protein I consume matter?
Are protein powders effective?

The Super Health DietProtein, absolutely essential for human life, is one of the most misunderstood substances by not just those on the journey toward their ideal weight or overall good health, but also misunderstood by many doctors, nutritionists, personal trainers and others that our families rely on for health care and education.

‘The Dynamic Role of Proteins in Weight Loss’, Chapter 11, in my book The Super Health Diet: The Last Diet You Will Ever Need!, contains vital information on protein for those wanting to lose weight, optimize their physical performance, bolster the immune system and to add life to their years!

Today on LivingFuelTV, Monica and I discuss protein and why this macronutrient is vitally important to your weight optimization and overall health goals.  Join us by clicking on the image below.

Super MeatballsFrom Living Fuel’s kitchen, comes a creative, clever, and delicious use of the extraordinary plant-based protein/fiber/antioxidant blend LivingProtein® and protein-rich organic grass-fed beef (or bison) to create nutrient-dense oven-baked LivingProtein® Super Meatballs!

Two of the key ingredients to today’s recipe—organic grass-fed beef and organic free-range eggs—are great sources of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), a naturally-occurring fatty acid that has been shown to help the body’s cardiovascular and immune systems, and to promote healthy fat metabolism and lean body composition.

This easy recipe is fun for kids to prepare, too!

LivingProtein®  Super Meatballs

LivingFuel LivingProtein®2 scoops LivingFuel LivingProtein®
1 pound organic, grass-fed ground beef (or bison)
1 cup grated organic parmesan cheese
2 free-range organic eggs
2 teaspoons organic Italian seasoning
4 cloves organic garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon fine ground Celtic Sea Salt (add more to taste)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Use a spoon to make approximately 1-inch diameter meatballs.  Lightly coat meatballs in extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil and lay on a baking dish.  Place baking dish in preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, turning meatballs once during the process.

This terrific super recipe yields approximately 18 golf ball-size meatballs.  Each meatball contains 100 calories, 10 grams of clean protein, and 1 gram of fiber.

We love banana split sundaes, but not the sugar, calories, fat, and lack of nutrition that comes with them.  Here’s Living Fuel’s spin on this classic that you can fix your kids (or yourself) for breakfast!

The LivingProtein® Banana Split SuperSmoothie fuels you with 465 calories, 12 grams of fiber, and 30 grams of plant protein.  This delicious SuperSmoothie is dairy-free, soy-free, and hassle-free!  Blend one up today and let us know what you think at the Living Fuel Facebook Page.

LivingProtein®LivingProtein Banana Split SuperSmoothie

2 scoops (1 serving) LivingProtein®
1 teaspoon organic unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons organic almond butter
½ medium frozen banana (organic is best)
1 cup unsweetened organic vanilla or chocolate almond milk
¼ teaspoon organic cinammon
dash nutmeg (optional)
Mix in blender until smooth and enjoy!

Save the Bananas!

Rescue your overripe bananas instead of tossing them.  Remove the peel and freeze them in a freezer-safe container.  Use them in your favorite SuperSmoothie recipes and they’ll keep up to 3 months in your freezer.  The cold locks in the nutrition and taste, provides a creamy consistency and chills your SuperSmoothie in the process.

Eggs and Cholesterol Clarified

Dear Living Fuel Family,

Here in the United States, typical breakfast food options include grain-based, sugar-infused doughnuts, muffins, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and cereals.  Conventional medicine and media outlets have done a great job of slandering the EGG, linking eggs to high cholesterol and the killer heart disease.  We’ve been unwittingly programmed to associated eggs with risk of dying from heart disease!  Is this actually true?

Findings from new studies are emerging that tell us that egg consumption is actually an indicator of good health!  Today on LivingFuelTV, I’ll look at an important Danish study (the country, not the breakfast pastry) on egg consumption and health markers.  The study’s findings, coupled with a different look at cholesterol, may just have you looking at the much maligned egg in a whole different light.  Click on the graphic below to watch.

PB&JThe iconic PB&J—the peanut butter and jelly sandwich

There’s likely not an organization that tracks such statistics, however, it’s probably safe to say that there were hundreds of thousands of these sandwiches made and eaten by young and old alike on a beautiful day like today.  Unfortunately, the ingredients in this American lunch icon often hide dangers such as hydrogenated vegetable oils, high fructose corn syrup, added white sugar, nutritionally-empty white bread, and a list of unpronounceable chemicals, fillers, and flavors.

Instead, try our newest LivingFuel creation the delicious LivingProtein® PB&J SuperSmoothie for lunch this week.  You and the children in your life will love it!

This gluten-free, plant-driven recipe fuels you and those you love with 220 calories, 6 grams of fiber, and 16 grams of plant protein.

LivingProtein® PB&J SuperSmoothie

LivingFuel LivingProtein®1 scoop LivingFuel LivingProtein®
1 tablespoon organic peanut butter
4 organic fresh or frozen strawberries

Add all ingredients into a blender.  Blend for 30 seconds.  Enjoy!
